ELDER SERVICES & NUTRITION

We provide free lunches 5 days a week to elderly Indian people 55 years of age or over

Title VI Program

  • Provide free lunches 5 days a week to elderly Indian people 55 years of age or over. A link to the Menu can be found at the bottom of the page. NOTE: Menu subject to change.
  • Serving time 11:30 am to 1 pm. CDIB card required.
  • Spouses are also eligible to eat free.
  • Guests meals are $5, and children 12 and under are $3.
  • Volunteers eat free for (bringing elders or taking elders food, donating time to kitchen through the noon hour).
  • Host approximately 10 special events per year, including holiday parties, and more!

Other Services

  • Provide transportation, information and referrals.
  • Host and transport special events throughout the year. (Fairs, festivals, and shopping trips).
  • Host arts and crafts department. Senior Turtles make two, keep one, sell one (excluding shawls). It is a self-supporting program at this time through donation and sales of arts and crafts at the community building.
  • Provide space for monthly Health Screening Services provided by Bearskin Healthcare & Wellness Center.
  • Host eye and ear screening clinics upon request from outside contractors.
  • Building rental: $75 for public and $50 for tribal members and tribal employees. May, June and July are heavily booked so book early for these months.
  • Banquets: Will host banquets, $12 – $15 per plate.

Family Caregiver

We help families caring for an older relative with chronic illness or aging disabilities. The Tribe provides support services for family caregivers and for grandparents raising grandchildren.

Caregiver Services

  • Individual Counseling.
  • Support groups.
  • Training to assist the caregivers in making decisions and solving problems relating to their care giving roles.
  • Respite Care: To enable caregivers to be temporarily relieved from their care giving responsibilities.

Eligibility

  • Caregivers or families caring for frail persons (55) years of age or older.
  • A CDIB card is required.
  • No income guidelines for qualification.
  • Family members: (55 years or older), who are primary caregivers residing with a child (18 years of age or under).

Who are the caregivers?

Anyone who provides care and/or support services for an older individual who, for reasons of illness or frailty, cannot manage independently without assistance.

Are you a caregiver?

If you perform tasks to help with shopping, bills, errands, transportation, etc. for your spouse or parents. Provide personal care for your spouse or parents. Check the eligibility rules above for more.

Coordination of Services

The program enables caregivers the opportunity to increase their awareness of and gain access to the best services to increase their quality of life. The program coordinates activities with tribal, local and community agencies.
