Serving on a jury in our society is both a privilege and a legal duty. You have an important and valuable role to play in the administration of justice. To serve on a jury means sitting down with a group of people who will decide on the facts of a criminal or civil case.
Title 3 Section 701 (b) (2) of the Wyandotte Nation Codes say, “The Court Clerk shall supply a list of all persons over eighteen years of age irrespective of tribal membership who have registered upon the Court Clerk’s Jury Selection Roll for jury service.”
Title 3 Section 702 of the Wyandotte Nation Codes say, “It shall be the duty of the Court Clerk to maintain at all times a jury selection roll upon which any person who is or may be eligible for jury service may enter their name, date of birth, and place of residence. Such roll shall be provided to the jury selection board in order that all qualified persons who may not be identified in paragraphs (1), (2), or (3) of Subsection (b) of Section 702 of this Chapter shall have the opportunity for jury service.”
If you want to be included on the Wyandotte Nations Court Clerk’s Jury Selection Roll and you are over the age of 18, please email your Name, Date of Birth, and Place of Residence to the Court Clerk, Kristy Fink at kfink@wyandotte-nation.org, the Court Administrator, Samantha Proctor Smith at sproctorsmith@wyandotte-nation.org, or call 918-678-6342 or 918-678-6394.
